89-Year-Old Cubs Fan Ready For The Big Win
CHICAGO (CBS) -- With the Cubs and Indians preparing Tuesday night for the start of the World Series, there are as many Cubs fan stories as there are Cubs fans.
Some Cubs' fans have waited longer than others to see the Cubs win it all.
89-year-old Bill Pelinski is as optimistic as they come, WBBM's Bernie Tafoya reports.
"I think we are going all the way," Pelinski said. "We are going all the way, kid."
Pelinski visited Wrigley Field on Monday with his three daughters. They wanted to take a picture together in front of the marquee reading: 2016 National League Champions.
Pelinski said Andy Pafko and Gabby Hartnett were two of his favorite Cubs.
Besides being a Cubs fan, he once tried-out for the team in the early 1950s.
"I threw the ball a little bit and they said, 'we'll call you,'" Pelinski said.
Pelinski joked that he is still waiting for his call.
Pelinski said he always thought the Cubs would get back to the World Series and eventually win it, "but not this late, you know?"
The Des Plaines resident said now it's time to enjoy the World Series.
"The time has come, right?", he asks.
The coming days will tell whether Bill Pelinski's wait ends or not.
