Lincolnwood Bakery Set To Reopen
LINCOLNWOOD, Ill. (WBBM) -- A well-known Lincolnwood baked goods manufacturer is reopening Monday -- more than a week after its products were blamed for episodes of food poisoning.
Officials of Rolf's Patisserie said, in a statement, that the firm discarded all ingredients and food products that were on hand at its Lincolnwood facility before it closed down last month, thoroughly cleaned and sanitized the facility, retrained employees on proper hygiene and put in place new practices to monitor employee sanitation.

"We have spent the week resolving these issues and are committed to even more stringent sanitation precautions," said Rolf's President Lloyd Culbertson.
Rolf's sells under its own name and also supplies a number of supermarket chains with such products as cakes, cobblers, decorated cookies, tarts, pastries, pies and tiramisu.
The FDA said that the desserts were connected to outbreaks of Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) food poisoning, which can cause nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps and diarrhea; the illness usually lasts for one or two days, although especially sensitive victims may require medical treatment for dehydration.
