8 Wounded In Shootings Late Saturday, Early Sunday
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Eight people were wounded in shootings Saturday night and early Sunday on the South and West sides.
At 3:34 a.m., a 28-year-old man was found shot in the 300 block of West Marquette Road after his vehicle crashed into a tree, police said. The vehicle's only occupant, he was taken in critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Two teenage boys were walking home from a party when shots were fired from a black car in the 900 block of North Massasoit Avenue at 1:47 p.m., police said. A 15-year-old boy was shot in the leg and a 14-year-old boy was shot in the lower arm. Both were taken in good condition to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park.
A man was a passenger in a vehicle in the 3800 block of West Polk Street when shots were fired from a gray car about 12:30 a.m., striking him in the head, police said.
The driver of the vehicle drove the 23-year-old victim to a fire station in the 3900 block of West 16th Street where he was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.
About 11:30 p.m., two 20-year-old men were walking in the 6200 block of South Rockwell Street when someone in a light-colored vehicle fired shots at them, police said. One man was shot in the foot, the other was shot in the arm and both were taken to Holy Cross Hospital in stable condition.
A 16-year-old boy was standing on a porch in the 6500 block of South Sangamon Street about 10:45 p.m. when a black and white van pulled up and an unknown assailant stepped out and shot him before fleeing the scene, police said. Suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg, the boy was taken in good condition to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center.
About 10:30 p.m., a 26-year-old man was shot in the arm in the 6800 block of South Stony Island Avenue, police said. The man reportedly said he was shot by an unknown person during a verbal altercation. He walked into Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Center and was in good condition.
No one is in custody for the shootings and area detectives are investigating.
