8 Wounded In Overnight Shootings
CHICAGO (STMW) -- At least eight people were shot and wounded during a six-hour span throughout the city Saturday evening.
Around 10:35 p.m., a 21-year-old man was shot in the forearm in the 5300 block of West Wrightwood Avenue in the Northwest Side Belmont Cragin neighborhood. He was taken in good condition to Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center.
A 17-year-old boy walked into Mercy Hospital and Medical Center at 9:53 p.m. with gunshot wounds to the back and leg, police said. The victim said he was on the sidewalk walking in the 4700 block of South Union Avenue when he heard gunshots and realized he had been shot. He is in good condition.
At 9:34 p.m., a 54-year-old man was shot in the leg at East 91st Street and South State Street during an attempted robbery, police said. He is in "stable" condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
At 5:35 p.m., a 35-year-old man walked into the University of Chicago Medical Center after being stabbed in the upper back during an attempted robbery at East 79th Street and South Dorchester Avenue, police said. His condition was not known.
At 5:18 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was shot in the calf and suffered a graze wound to the knee in the 3000 block of West 59th Street, police said. He is in good condition at an unidentified hospital.
At 5:15 p.m., a 32-year-old man was shot in the shoulder 5900 block of South Damen Avenue, police said. He is in good condition at an unidentified hospital.
At 4:38 p.m. a female was shot in the buttocks and a male suffered a gunshot wound in the leg in the 10100 block of South Wentworth Avenue, police said. Both were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with apparent non-life-threatening injuries.
No one is in custody and Chicago Police detectives are investigating all the shootings.
