8 Wounded In Citywide Shootings Overnight
CHICAGO (STMW) -- At least eight people have been wounded in shootings throughout the city since Thursday night.
The first shooting occurred about 9:40 p.m. when two men were walking near South Normal Avenue and West 112th Street in the South Side Roseland neighborhood, police said. Several gunmen approached on foot and opened fire. A man, 48, was shot in the leg and another man, 24, was also shot in the leg, Gaines said. Information on the men's conditions was not immediately available.
A 31-year-old man was sitting on a fence with friends in the 900 block of North Cambridge Avenue on the Near North Side about 9:45 p.m. when a group of males approached and fired shots, police said. He was shot in the arm and taken in "stable" condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
A 41-year-old man was shot in the foot in the South Side Washington Park Thursday night, police said. He was at 60th Street and Indiana Avenue when he "heard shots and felt pain" about 10:30 p.m., said police. The man went to Saint Bernard Hospital where he was listed in "stable" condition, police said.
A man and woman were outside in the 6700 block of South Paxton Avenue at 11 p.m. when two male gunmen approached on foot and opened fire during the gang-related shooting in the South Shore neighborhood, said police. A bullet struck the woman, who is 23, in the chest, critically wounding her, police said. The man was shot in the shoulder and is listed in "stable" condition. Both were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for treatment, police said.
A 23-year-old man was outside in the 1100 block of North Waller Avenue when he was shot multiple times in the chest and back at 11:33 p.m. in the West Side Austin neighborhood, police said. He was taken in critical condition to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, police said.
A man was wounded early Friday during a South Side Englewood neighborhood shooting walked into a hospital emergency room seeking medical attention after catching a ride from his girlfriend. The man, whose exact age wasn't released, later told police that he was in the 7100 block of South Normal Avenue when he "heard shots and then felt pain" about 1:10 a.m., police said.
After he was shot, the man called his girlfriend, who picked him up and drove him to Metro South Medical Center in Blue Island, police said. The man was listed in "stable" condition, receiving treatment for a gunshot wound to the left shoulder, police said.
No one was in custody for the shootings.
