About 4,500 customers are without electricity in Chicago, a ComEd spokesperson says.
South of Chicago, in the areas of Kankakee, Streator and Pontiac, 36,000 are without electricity, Gaffney said.
In the western region, 92,000 people are without electricity.
In the north suburbs, 6,000 customers are without electricity, Gaffney said.
ComEd crews are assessing the damage, and there is no expected time when power will be returned to the affected areas.
