70s For Outlying Areas, 50s And 60s By The Lake
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Temperatures will rise to the lower 70s in some outlying areas Monday, but will hover in the 50s and 60s along the lake as a breeze keeps conditions cool.
CBS 2 Meteorologist Megan Glaros reports the temperature was 55 at Midway and O'Hare international airports and 58 at Kankakee, but only 49 at Waukegan, as of 11 a.m.
Some cloud cover was seen over the area, and the clouds will build as another storm system approaches Monday night.
The water temperature was 51 degrees, and a wind blowing from the southeast at 15 to 20 mph is picking up its chill.
That will keep temperatures at 56 for the far northern suburbs and 60 for the city. But Porter County, I Ind., can expect to see 68 degrees, Will County 69 degrees, Kankakee County 70 degrees, and LaSalle County 71 degrees, Glaros reported.
The storm system was sitting out to the northwest over Minnesota and the eastern Dakotas as of the 11 a.m. hour. It will arrive in the Chicago area overnight, with a potential for thunder and lightning that might wake up the kids and the dog.
An approximately 40 percent chance of thunderstorms lingers throughout most of the day Tuesday, but a high-pressure will sweep in Wednesday and clear things up, Glaros said.
For Monday, the high is 65, followed by an overnight low of 53. The high for Tuesday is 64, Wednesday 55, Thursday 52, Friday, 56, Saturday 63 and Easter Sunday 66. But from Wednesday onward, sunny and dry conditions are expected.
