8 Shot During Overnight Hours On South, West Sides

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Another violent night on the streets of Chicago has sent eight people – including two teenage boys – to the hospital.
The shootings happened on the South and West sides, with the Englewood neighborhood bearing the greatest brunt of the violence. But most of the victims' injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
The boy, 17, was shot in the abdomen at 9:48 p.m. Thursday in the 8900 block of South Houston Avenue, in the South Chicago neighborhood.
He was taken in good condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in the shooting, which was believed to be gang-related, police said.
Two minutes before that, another 17-year-old boy was shot in the foot in the 6600 block of South Oakley Avenue, on the cusp of the Marquette Park and West Englewood neighborhoods. He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition.
At 10:20 p.m. Thursday, a 44-year-old man was shot in the lower back in the 6600 block of South May Street, in the Englewood neighborhood.
The man walked into Saint Bernard Hospital more than a mile away, where he was listed in serious condition.
At 10:38 p.m., a 48-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the right leg in the 7100 block of South Halsted Street, also in the Englewood neighborhood, police said. That man was in good condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
Another man was shot in the lower back in 800 block of North Monticello Avenue, in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, about 11:48 p.m., police said. He walked into Mount Sinai Hospital where he was listed in guarded condition.
At 1:47 a.m. Friday, a 24-year-old man was shot when a fight broke out at the Keynote Lounge, at 1116 W. 63rd St. again in Englewood, and spilled out into the street.
The man, who was not involved in the fight, heard shots and felt pain, Gaines said. He was taken in good condition to Stroger Hospital of Cook County with a gunshot wound to the arm.
An 18-year-old boy was shot in the foot in the 4000 block of West Monroe Street, in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, at 2:11 a.m., Gaines said. He was taken in good condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.
Finally, a man was shot in the stomach and arm in the 5100 block of South Archer Avenue on the Southwest Side, at 2:24 a.m. Friday, Gaines said. He was hospitalized at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
