7 Injured In Park Ridge Crash
UPDATED 05/06/11 10:13 a.m.
PARK RIDGE, Ill. (CBS) -- Seven people are injured after a three-car crash in Park Ridge overnight, which followed a chase that went on for several miles.
The crash happened around 11:10 p.m. Thursday at Oakton Street and Dee Road, Park Ridge police said.
The driver of an Audi ran a red light and crashed into a Honda at the intersection.
Police say the crash followed a chase that began several miles away at Irving Park Road and Austin Avenue in Chicago. The Audi driver said the occupants of a green car were chasing him.
The five or six young men in the green car yelled and waved gang signs at the Audi driver, and at least one of them had a gun, police said.
After the Audi hit the Honda, the green car hit the Audi before speeding off northbound on Dee Road, police said.
Seven people were taken to area hospitals following the crash, a Park Ridge Fire Department battalion chief said early Friday. Police described six of the seven injured as "incapacitated."
The injured were taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Resurrection Medical Center and Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, the fire chief said.
