Police Officer, 6 Others Hurt In Crash

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Seven people, including a Chicago Police officer, were injured and taken to hospitals after a multi-vehicle accident on the city's South Side.
An Emergency Medical Services Plan I, automatically sending five ambulances, was called around 7:45 a.m. Wednesday for the accident at 76th Street and Stony Island Avenue. A police squad car was among the vehicles involved.
The officer was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and was reported in serious condition, authorities said. Officials later reported that the officer was in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
In all, three of the injured victims were reported in serious condition, the other three in good condition, fire officials said.
Further details of the accident were not immediately available.
