7 Hurt In Auburn-Gresham Crash Involving Police Car
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Seven people, including two Chicago police officers, were hurt in a three-vehicle crash in Auburn-Gresham on Thursday, as the officers responded to a shooting.
WBBM Newsradio's Mike Krauser reports, according to police, the officers had witnessed a shooting in the 7500 block of South Union Avenue. They called it in, and were pursuing the shooter as another police vehicle was responding from the nearby Gresham District station.
The unmarked squad car was involved in a crash with two other vehicles two blocks away at 76th and Halsted streets, injuring seven people in all.
The victims, including children and two officers, were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The police vehicle had front-end damage, and one of the other vehicles – an SUV – rolled over.
Police said the suspected gunman was arrested.
