6-Year-Old Killed In McHenry County Hit-And-Run
MCHENRY COUNTY, Ill. (STMW) -- Police in McHenry County are looking for a white passenger car or SUV with damage to one of the headlights, which fatally struck a 6-year-old boy Saturday night and left the scene without stopping.
At approximately 9:04 p.m. Saturday, personnel from the McHenry County Sheriff's office, Marengo Police Department, Woodstock Fire Protection District, and McHenry County Conservation Police responded to the area of 4601 Franklinville Road in McHenry County for a report of an accident involving injuries. The location of the accident is in a northwest suburban rural area between Woodstock and Marengo.
Witnesses on the scene told police that a 6-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle that left the scene without stopping, a release from the sheriff's office said. Witnesses described the vehicle as a white passenger car or SUV with damage to one of the headlamps. The offending vehicle fled the scene northbound on Franklinville Road.
The boy was taken to Centegra Hospital in Woodstock where he was pronounced dead.
The crash is under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office. Anyone having
