6 Wounded In Thursday Shootings On South Side
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Six people have been wounded in shootings before noon on St. Patrick's Day, all on Chicago's South Side.
The most recent shooting happened at 11:15 a.m. in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood.
A 23-year-old man was shot in the right foot in the 7100 block of South Rhodes and taken to Jackson Park Hospital, where his condition stabilized, police said.
About 45 minutes earlier, two men were shot in the Woodlawn neighborhood.
The shooting happened in the 6600 block of South Champlain at 10:34 a.m., police said. A 22-year-old man was shot multiple times in the back and taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital. A 40-year-old man was shot in the left leg and taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where his condition stabilized.
At 7:50 a.m., a 17-year-old boy walked into Roseland Hospital with a gunshot wound to the right foot, police said. He told investigators he was shot in the 12500 block of South Michigan.
More than two hours earlier, a man was shot during a robbery in the Avalon Park neighborhood.
The 31-year-old man was shot in the eye, arm and finger in the 8700 block of South Jeffrey about 5:30 a.m., police said. He was taken by a family member to Trinity Hospital, but was transferred to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition.
A few minutes earlier, a 24-year-old woman walked into Mercy Hospital with a gunshot wound to the wrist at 5:23 a.m., police said. She was listed in good condition.
The woman was shot while riding in a vehicle, though it wasn't immediately clear where because the woman was intoxicated, according to a police source.
On Wednesday, seven people were wounded in shootings across the city. On Tuesday, four people were killed and eight others were wounded in city shootings.
