6 Wounded In Shootings Tuesday Across Chicago
CHICAGO (STMW) -- At least six people were wounded in shootings Tuesday across Chicago.
Most recently, a 37-year-old man was shot in the West Side Austin neighborhood.
He was walking in the 4700 block of West Erie about 8:20 p.m. when someone shot him in the right shoulder before fleeing in a vehicle, according to Chicago Police. He took himself to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where he was listed in serious condition.
About 6 p.m., a teenage girl was shot in the Brighton Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side.
The 16-year-old was walking in the 3000 block of West 37th Place when someone approached her with a gun and fired shots, police said. She was shot in the left leg and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where her condition was stabilized.
Earlier Tuesday afternoon, a 19-year-old man was shot in the West Ridge neighborhood on the North Side. He was in the 5800 block of North Washtenaw when a blue car pulled up about 1:35 p.m. and someone got out and fired several shots, police said.
The shooter got back in the car and fled. The man was shot in the right side and taken to Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where his condition stabilized.
About 9:20 a.m., a man was critically injured in a shooting in the South Side Auburn Gresham neighborhood.
The 20-year-old man was discovered in an alley in the 8800 block of South Wood with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso, police said. He was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Police said the victim is a documented gang member.
Tuesday's first shooting happened about 12:30 a.m. in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.
A 25-year-old man and 26-year-old woman were standing in an alley in the 700 block of West 72nd Street when three to four males fired shots, police said. The man suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and arm and was taken in critical condition to Christ Medical Center.
The woman was shot in the leg and ankle and was also taken to Christ, where her condition was stabilized. A police source said the man is a documented gang member.
