6 Injured In Crash On Lake Shore Drive
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Six people were injured Sunday afternoon when a vehicle and a church van collided on Lake Shore Drive.
The accident occurred at 2:55 p.m. at 4500 N. Lake Shore Drive, Fire Media Affairs spokeswoman Meg Ahlheim said.
One person was taken in critical condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Ahlheim said.
Five others were taken in serious condition to area hospitals, Ahlheim said. Two people were taken to Weiss Memorial Hospital, one person to Masonic and two others, including a child, were taken to St. Joseph Hospital.
All of the victims suffered non-life threatening injuries, Ahlheim said.
An EMS Plan 1, which sends at least five ambulances to the scene, was called for the accident.
Police were notified of the crash but could not provide any further details.
This is the second crash at this location within the past 24 hours. A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle when he walked into traffic in the 4500 block of North Lake Shore Drive at 11:10 p.m. Saturday.
