5 Critically Injured In Crash On West Side
CHICAGO (STMW) - Five women were critically injured early Saturday when the vehicle they were in sped off the road and into Garfield Park on the West Side.
An EMS Plan 1 response -- which automatically sends five ambulances to the scene -- was called at 12:12 a.m. after a crash was reported near the intersection of West Jackson and South Hamlin boulevards, according to Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford.
The vehicle was "moving at a pretty good speed" and left the road, Langford said.
Five women were in the vehicle at the time of the crash and were taken to various area hospitals -- all in serious-to-critical condition, Langford said.
The EMS Plan 1 was secured at 12:26 a.m., Langford said.
Police could not provide details about the crash Saturday morning.
