40,000 Join "Race At Your Pace" For Breast Cancer
CHICAGO (CBS) -- About 40,000 people took a walk on the lakefront on Sunday, for the 21st Annual Y-Me "Race At Your Pace," a 5K to support breast cancer patients.
Many moms and daughters walked side-by-side along the lakefront and Grant Park, many of them with personal stories of how breast cancer has touched their lives.
WBBM Newsradio's Michele Fiore reports Grant Park was turned into a sea of pink Sunday morning, with pink ribbons, T-shirts and even pink portable toilets on display for the "Race At Your Pace."

Ted Earhart and his girls were walking for someone they love.
"My cousin, Mickie Moore, has breast cancer. She's out there and they're walking for her. The group's called 'Mickie Longstocking.'"
In what has become a Mothers Day tradition, many were either walking beside their mother, or in memory of her.
Cornelia Brunson's mother died of breast cancer at age 60 and her sister was just 30.
"You know, it's been a journey. It's been a journey, but I appreciate this here, and everything," she said. "Maybe one day we'll find a cure for it."
Three generations of the Nantwi family also took part in the walk. In fact, grandma was pushing a double stroller. They said they do it for everyone who has breast cancer.
