4 Hurt In Crash After Driver Tried To Flee Police
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Four people were injured early Thursday in Englewood when the driver of a Jeep tried to flee from a police traffic stop, but ended up crashing the vehicle into a pole across the street.
Two men, one woman and a 15-year-old boy were taken to separate hospitals with non life-threatening injuries following the midnight crash, said police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.
Officers pulled the Jeep over in the 7100 block of South Wentworth Avenue, but as they approached, the driver stepped on the gas, police said.
He did not make it far. The car quickly careened out of control and struck a light pole across the street, police said.
The driver apparently tried to flee because he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody in addition to receiving several citations for the crash, police said.
