4 Charged With Stealing Aluminum From Factory
WOODSTOCK, Ill. (STMW) -- Four men have been charged with burglary and related offenses in connection with the theft of tens of thousands of pounds of aluminum from a northwest suburban metal factory.
At about 8 a.m. on Sunday, the McHenry County Sheriff's Office received information from the Wood Dale and Crystal Lake police departments that a sophisticated burglary operation may commit a burglary at a metal factory in the Union area.
The sheriff's sent personnel to the area including members of the Patrol Division, Investigations Division, Apprehension Unit and Canine Unit, a release from the sheriff's office said.
Officers observed a dark-colored SUV displaying suspicious behavior, according to the release. A short time later, the same SUV was observed escorting a semi truck to New Dimensions at 6614 S. Union Rd. in Union.
The tractor trailer was observed backing into an open bay door, which was then closed. The SUV continued to drive in the area with the semi inside the business.
Sheriff's officers conducted a traffic stop on the SUV and took 64-year-old Wydell Feazell into custody. A perimeter was established and when the semi began to move, officers approached the driver, 39-year-old Gabriel Garcia, and took him into custody.
Roger Sexton, 50, attempted to run out of the building and was immediately taken into custody. A search of the interior of the business also led to the apprehension of 38-year-old Jose Feliciano, who was found hiding in a room.
The semi was found to be stolen from the Bensenville area on Saturday, the release said. The interior contained tens of thousands of pounds of aluminum removed from New Dimension. The offenders used forklifts inside the business to load the trailer, according to police.
In McHenry County Court this week, Feliciano, of the 400 block of 46th Avenue in Bellwood, was charged with theft, burglary, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and conspiracy. Bond was set at $80,000, according to sheriff's police.
