4 Charged In Tax Return Scam
HAMMOND, Ind. (STMW) - Four current or former employees of Quick Sam Tax Service in Gary, Ind. were indicted for preparing fraudulent tax returns over the past year.
Chanel Bandy, 32, of Merrillville, Britney Walker-Lipsey, 30, of East Chicago, and Charles Standifer, 35, and Rhonda Murphy, 35, both of Gary, were charged in U.S. District Court in Hammond. with willfully aiding or assisting in the preparation of false income tax returns
The complaint alleges that the tax preparers stated false levels of income to help taxpayers qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit.
