3-Year-Old Boy Shot In West Garfield Park
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A three-year-old boy is in the hospital after was shot Tuesday morning in Chicago's West Garfield Park neighborhood.
Police said the child was in a vehicle with a 36-year-old woman in the 4500 block of West Congress Parkway around 8:30 a.m., when someone in a white SUV pulled up alongside them and started shooting.
CBS 2's Tara Molina reports the boy suffered a gunshot wound to the right side of his face, near his eye, and was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition. The woman was not injured.
That's according to the Chicago Police Department. No answers to questions about his specific injuries or about the damaged SUV that was parked in front of Stroger Hospital.
Broken glass, bullet holes and police tape…police won't say if this white Audi SUV parked right in front of the hospital is connected to the shooting this morning.
According to police and fire officials at the scene, she chose not to take an ambulance, driving to Stroger, a couple miles away, on their own. Police said there are no suspects in custody and there are no updates at this time.
