3 Shot At Party Near U Of I Campus, Including Illini LB Henry

URBANA, Ill. (CBS) -- Police are searching for the gunman who shot three people, including an Illini football player, at a weekend party near the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus.
As WBBM Newsradio's Regine Schlesinger reports, Illini linebacker Trulon Henry, 27, said he was home with his wife and child when he got a call about a fight that had erupted party at the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity house near campus.

Henry tells the Chicago Tribune he rushed to the off-campus frat house to get his teammates away from the fight.
But just after he arrived, someone began firing a gun, hitting Henry and two others – a 22-year-old man from Palos Park and a 23-year-old man from Park Forest, the Tribune reported.
Urbana Police Lt. Bryant Seraphin says the shooting left two victims hospitalized in unspecified condition. The third, the Park Forest victim, was treated and released, the Tribune reported.
Henry, a native of Washington, D.C., started as an outside linebacker this season. Last year, he started all 13 games as a safety.
"He's ninth on the team with 39 tackles, and he's tied for the team league with two interceptions," said U of I associate chancellor for public affairs Robin Kaler.
But for now, Henry's season is over. He was shot above his right wrist and suffered a ruptured artery and broken bones, the Tribune reported.
Doctors told him it will take eight weeks to heal, and another eight weeks to undergo rehabilitation, the Tribune reported.
Kaler, says even though the incident is not university affiliated, they are offering counseling for those who were affected.
"We have a task force of counselors who are reaching out to student groups who might have had members who would have been involved, and of course, any student who wants to talk to someone can come to the counseling center, and we have similar services for faculty and staff," Kaler said.
