3 Police Cars Damaged During West Side Chase
CHICAGO (CBS/WBBM) -- Three Chicago Police vehicles were involved in accidents overnight, and they were all connected to the same incident.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's Bernie Tafoya reports, police say it all started with a hit-and-run incident, where a driver struck a marked police car at 16th Street and Central Park Avenue at 1:12 a.m.
Police chased the driver, and other police vehicles joined the pursuit. The offending driver continued on until his vehicle crashed into the wall of a building in the in the 4800 block of West Van Buren Street about 1:25 a.m., Gaines said.
The motorist then fled the scene on foot.

Officers from the original 16th Street crash were taken with minor injuries to Mount Sinai Hospital where they were treated and released, Gaines said.
Later in the pursuit, two Harrison District marked police cars crashed into each other in the 4700 block of West Van Buren Street, Gaines said.
The officers from the Van Buren Street crash were taken to the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center with minor injuries.
At least four officers were injured in all.
Meanwhile, a Chicago fire truck was in an accident Thursday morning while headed to a fire in a vacant building at Walton Street and Lavergne Avenue. There were no injuries in that incident.
No one was in custody early Thursday in the police-involved incident.
