3 People Shot In Austin
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Three people were seriously wounded during a shooting in the Austin neighborhood early Tuesday.
The three people -- two men and one woman -- were in the 100 block of North Central Avenue when a gunman emerged from a gangway and fired shots at them about 12:30 a.m., police said. He then fled the scene.
Both men – ages 22 and 24 – were in serious condition at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital after bullets struck them in the back, police said.
The woman, 31, was listed in serious condition at Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to her armpit, police said.
Police said no one was in custody for the shooting.
However, earlier police detained three "possible offenders" near the scene of the shooting and recovered a weapon, according to the scanner reports.
Area North detectives are investigating.
