The incident, which police said appeared to be random, happened in the 5800 block of North Oconto Avenue, near Harlem Avenue and the Kennedy Expressway.

Two men began pounding on the front door of the home and ringing the doorbell over and over again. A woman in the home immediately called 911. But the men kept knocking, police said.

A male resident looked out the window to see one of the men kick the door, while a third robber forced a back door open, Mirabelli said.

The male resident tried to keep the third robber from getting in by pushing the door, but the robber was able to break free and made his way inside the home. Once inside, he threatened the woman. That man was the only one to make it inside the home, police said.

Officers were called to the scene and two of the offenders were found by beat officers near the Harlem Blue Line station. The third jumped the tracks onto the Kennedy Expressway, Mirabelli said. That man was caught by tactical officers near Foster and Harlem avenues.

The three men were identified by the victims.

The men – Demarcos Felton, 27 and Scott Edwards, 22, both of the 5100 block of West Crystal Street in the North Austin neighborhood; and Jordan Michael Scott, 21, of west suburban Berkeley – are all charged with residential burglary. Home invasion charges are also pending.

The couple — a man in his early 60s and a woman in her mid-50s — were not injured.
