3 In Custody After Hostage Situation Ends On West Side
CHICAGO (STMW) -- An apparent hostage situation on the West Side ended Friday morning without any injuries, police said.
The hostage situation began after police officers were sent to a building near Ashland Avenue and Hastings Street about 3:16 a.m., when they received a call about a domestic dispute, said police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.
A man in the building refused to open a door to allow the officers inside, Mirabelli said, and the incident was classified as a hostage situation.
About four hours later, three people walked out of the building with their hands up after an armored vehicle carrying a SWAT team pulled up to the building, Mirabelli said.
The trio was taken into custody and being questioned by police.
The three were all males whose ages were not immediately available, Mirabelli said.
