3 Hurt In Head-On Crash In South Elgin
SOUTH ELGIN, Ill. (STMW) -- Three people were seriously injured Wednesday when two cars collided head-on in northwest suburban South Elgin.
The crash happened on Stearns Road, about a quarter mile east of Randall Road at 2:28 p.m., police said.
The cars, driven by Tyre Turman, 19, of Aurora, and Joshua Koster, 28, of Bartlett, collided in front of the Birdies and Eagles driving range, South Elgin Deputy Police Chief Jerry Krawczyk said.
A passenger in the second car, identified as 58-year-old Joyce Koster of Bartlett, was injured so severely she was airlifted by helicopter to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, police and fire officials said.
Turman and the younger Koster were taken by ambulance to Presence Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
Officers ticketed Turman for alleged traffic violations and that Stearns Road was closed for about an hour, Krawczyk said.
