3 Held In South Shore Robberies, Beatings
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police are holding three people who are suspected of robbing and beating two men in the South Shore neighborhood Tuesday evening.
The first attack occurred at 8:20 p.m. near the Kingston St. Medical Center at 2541 E. 75th St. near the intersection with Kingston Avenue.
In the attack, several assailants knocked a 63-year-old man down and stole his iPhone, then kicked him in the face after he fell, according to police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak.
Ten minutes later and just a few blocks away at 7667 S. South Shore Dr., a 45-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk when the suspects came up and punched him in the mouth, according to Kubiak.
The victim fell to the ground, and the suspects took his wallet out of his pants pocket and ran off.
It was not known how the three male suspects were captured, but as of 6 a.m. they were in custody in connection with the two attacks and charges are pending, Kubiak said.
