3 Dead, 5 Wounded In 7 Hours

CHICAGO (CBS) - Three people are dead, and five were wounded in shootings and stabbings within seven hours between Saturday evening and early Sunday morning.
The violence began Saturday evening when two men were found dead in a car with multiple gunshot wounds on the South Side.
The men -- identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office as 29-year-old David D. Goodson and 30-year-old Oscar Harris -- were found about 6:45 p.m. Saturday in the 2000 block of West 70th Street, police said.
A Sunday autopsy determined both men died of multiple gunshot wounds, and the deaths were ruled homicides, according to the medical examiner's office.
The person who notified authorities said the men inside the parked silver 2003 Infiniti "hadn't moved" the past two days and thought police should check on them, police said.
Both men were pronounced dead on the scene, Goodson at 7:40 p.m. and Harris a minute later, according to the medical examiner's office.
The Infiniti -- with license plate numbers X926206 -- is registered to a woman who lives in the 6100 block of South Campbell Avenue, police said.
The city's Department of Streets & Sanitation towed the car to the medical examiner's office.
In Lawndale, a man was shot Saturday night while walking through an abandoned lot.
A 22-year-old man was walking through an abandoned lot in the 1200 block of South Troy Street at 8:40 p.m. when an assailant approached, produced a gun and opened fire, according to a release from police News Affairs.
The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the body and was taken in "stable" condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.
Two young men were wounded Saturday night during a fight in the Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side.
A 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy got into a fight with assailants in the 12000 block of South Normal Avenue about 10:21 p.m. and attempted to leave the area, according to a release from police News Affairs. The assailants then followed them and an unknown gunmen opened fire.
The 19-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the right leg and the 16-year-old boy was stabbed in the shoulder. Both victims were taken in good condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
A man was shot in the leg early Sunday during a party he hosted at his South Side home.
A 20-year-old man was shot at 12:25 a.m. while standing outside after a fight erupted at a party in the 6800 block of South King Drive, according to police News Affairs.
Police responded to a call of a battery in progress that progressed into a person shot and found large groups of people in the area, according to a police report.
The victim was found on the third floor with a gunshot wound to his upper and inner right thigh. He told police he was having a party when a fight started in the kitchen, and then moved out into the alley nearby. He went with the crowd that gathered outside and began running back inside his apartment when he saw the suspect shooting, according to the report.
He noticed he was shot once he got inside. He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he initially listed in serous but "stable," condition, according to the report.
The victim told police he does not know the shooter but said that his friends, "Lil Will, Bam Bam, Lil Fred and Big James might know," the report said.
While officers were at the hospital with the victim, they learned another officer made a weapons arrest at 6910 S. King Dr. and he matched the description of the shooter at the party.
It was not immediately known if the shooter was charged as of late Sunday afternoon.
A man was stabbed during a fight early Sunday at a North Side club.
The victim was stabbed during a fight about 1:45 a.m. at the 2200 N. Ashland Ave., Green Dolphin Street, according to police.
Police said the victim, 23, was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. His condition was not immediately available.
A man was fatally stabbed early Saturday on the Northwest Side and police are investigating the incident as a home invasion.
The man -- identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office as 41-year-old Bacilio Flores -- was stabbed at 3:38 a.m. Saturday in the 2100 block of North Laramie Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines said.
A Sunday autopsy determined Flores died of a stab wound to the chest and the death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner's office.
Gaines said the man was stabbed during a "possible" home invasion.
Flores was pronounced dead at 4:25 a.m. Saturday at Mount Sinai Hospital, according to the medical examiner's office.
Aside from the suspect arrested in the South Side party incident, no one else is in custody for any of the other shootings or stabbings. Police are investigating the incidents.
