3 Charged After Man Shot In Home Invasion
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Three men have been charged in connection to an apparent home invasion in which a man was shot multiple times on Christmas Eve in the Northwest Side Belmont Cragin neighborhood.
Jose Barriga, 18; Sergio Maymi, 22; and 25-year-old Matthew Andras forced their way into a 46-year-old man's home in the 2700 block of North Mango Avenue about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to a press release from the police Office of News Affairs.
One of the suspects fired a handgun, shooting the 46-year-old before the three fled the scene, police said.
The man suffered gunshot wounds to the head and chest, and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he is in serious but "stable" condition, police said.
Officers tracked down two of the suspects in a car nearby and found the third man at his home, police said.
Barriga, of the 2400 block of North Mango Avenue; Maymi, of the 2500 block of North Mango Avenue; and Andras, of the 2200 block of North Menard Avenue were each charged with felony counts of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery and home invasion.
Barriga was order held in lieu of $900,000 bond Wednesday, according to the Cook County Sheriff's office. Maymi's bond was set at $125,000, while Andras' was set at $75,000, the sheriff's office said.
All three are expected back in court Dec. 31.
