3 Arrested After Bolingbrook Shooting Leads To Car Chase
BOLINGBROOK, Ill. (STMW) -- Three west suburban Joliet residents were apprehended after a car chase that followed the shooting of two Bolingbrook men early Saturday.
Both shooting victims were expected to recover, Bolingbrook police said.
A squad car was rammed by the escaping vehicle during the chase that went onto Interstate 55 and ended in unincorporated Joliet.
Bolingbrook police said it all started at 12:20 a.m. when officers in the area of the 100 block of Malibu heard gunshots. They got to the scene to find several people running and a sports utility vehicle fleeing.
Police were unable to stop the gray SUV and followed it around Lake Shore Drive and Briarcliff Road. Police said the driver of the SUV rammed a squad car intentionally before the pursuit continued onto I-55.
The chase ended in unincorporated Joliet, where the three occupants of the SUV then tried to flee on foot, police said. They were apprehended with the help of several police agencies. All three suspects live in Joliet, police said.
Back in Bolingbrook a 20-year-old male had been shot in the chest. He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
A 21-year-old male had been shot in the leg and was taken to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital before being transferred to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood.
Bolingbrook police said the matter is being investigated and charges are pending.
