$27M Of Cannabis Found In Moving Truck In Franklin Park
FRANKLIN PARK, Ill. (STMW) -- Authorities found three tons of cannabis — worth more than $27 million — in a moving truck in west suburban Franklin Park Friday morning.
The Will County Cooperative Police Assistance Team (WCPAT) seized the cannabis from a moving truck in the 3900 block of Mannheim Road about 11 a.m., a release from WCPAT said.
The cannabis, which had an estimated value of $27 million, was found in a truck which was earlier abandoned in Stone Park.
Authorities also found a handgun and ammunition and are working to identify the invidividuals responsible for the importation and distribution of the drug.
WCPAT is working with Stone Park police and the public is encouraged to call (815) 726-6377 with any information. WCPAT is made of personnel from the FBI, Illinois State Police and the Joliet, Plainfield and Romeoville police departments.
