20th Arrest Made In Statewide Child Porn Crackdown
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A downstate man on Tuesday became the 20th arrest in a statewide crackdown on child porn traffickers.
Jedidiah M. Johnson, 18, of Carmi, is charged with three counts of distribution of child pornography, each a Class 1 felony punishable by a four to 15 year prison term, a release from Attorney General Lisa Madigan's office said.
Johnson's arrest marks the 20th in Operation Glass House, an initiative that the attorney general's office began in August 2010 to find and arrest the worst child pornographers in Illinois.
Johnson is being held pending a bond hearing, the release said.
The arrest involved attorney general's office investigators, the Carmi Police Department and the White County State's Attorney office.
Carmi is about 300 miles south of Chicago.
Investigators use the unique identifier that each computer is assigned when it accesses the Internet, known as an Internet protocol (IP) address. Some 6,000 Illinois IP addresses were seen trading child pornography images and videos across the state by attorney general's office investigators, the release said.
