2013 Chicago Tree Lighting Tuesday To Include Fireworks
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The city will officially light its Christmas tree on Daley Plaza on Tuesday, but that's only part of the show.
It's the 100th time the city has lit a city tree.
To mark the anniversary, there will be a fireworks show.
The pyrotechnics will be launched on the roof of the City Hall/County Building overlooking Daley Plaza. (Just like in the photo illustration above).
For the past few years, Chicago has held a contest to select the city's official tree. This year's tree is a nearly 60-footer from South Holland.
The tree lighting/fireworks will happen precisely at 6 p.m.
Washington Street, between Dearborn and Clark will be closed for spectators.
The Christkindlmarket on surrounding the Picasso also opens on Tuesday.
