Garza, Not Forte, Gets 2-Year Extension
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (CBS) -- Bears center Roberto Garza has won a two-year contract extension, and will remain with the team through 2013, the team confirmed Tuesday.
Garza became an unrestricted free agent this season, but the Bears locked him into a new contract before the deadline passed Monday to count the bonus money in the contract against the salary cap for this year
The terms of the deal were not officially released.
Garza was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons from Texas A&M University in 2001, and played with the Falcons for three seasons. He signed a one-year contract with the Bears in 2005, and was given a six-year extension the following year.
Garza had been an offensive guard, but made the transition to center after Olin Kreutz left the team.
