2 Teens Among 6 Hurt In Shootings, Stabbing Tuesday Night
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two teens were among at least six people hurt in acts of violence across the city Tuesday evening.
One teen, a 16-year-old boy, was in the 1700 block of West 71st Street in the West Englewood about 7:55 p.m. when a group of males approached him and demanded the bicycle he was riding.
When he tried to ride away, one of the males brandished a gun and fired shots at him, striking him in the right thigh, police said.
He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in "stable" condition, according to Fire Media Affairs.
In a separate incident, a 15-year-old boy was stabbed during a fight about 8:20 p.m., in the 7000 block of South Winchester Avenue, also in the West Englewood neighborhood.
He suffered a stab wound to the back, and was taken to University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital in "stable" condition, police and fire officials said.
The most recent shooting happened about 10 p.m. in the 5800 block of South Morgan Street, in the South Side Englewood neighborhood.
A 28-year-old man was walking down the sidewalk when the driver of a black sedan drove by and started shooting at him, police said. He was shot in the left foot, and an acquaintance took him to an area hospital.
Two minutes earlier in the South Chicago neighborhood, a man was shot in the arm in the 2900 block of East 89th Street, police said. Authorities had no further details on that shooting late Tuesday.
Just after 8 p.m., a 20-year-old man was shot in the shoulder and both legs in the 7200 block of North Sheridan Road, in the North Side Rogers Park neighborhood. Police had no further details about the attack.
About 7:30 p.m., a 28-year-old man was shot in the leg in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side, police said.
He was walking on the sidewalk in the 3500 block of South Vincennes Avenue when he heard gunfire and realized he had been shot, police said. He was taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in 'stable" condition.
Area detectives are investigating.
