2 Suburbs: No Amnesty For Running Red Lights In Blizzard
LIBERTYVILLE, Ill. (WBBM/CBS) -- While most drivers unlucky enough to have had to drive during the Blizzard of 2011 will be let off the hook for any slips through a red light, at least two suburban police departments are saying 'no amnesty.'
As WBBM Newsradio 780's Pat Cassidy reports, in Libertyville and Elk Grove Village, if you got a red light ticket issued Feb. 1 or 2 during the blizzard, you have to pay it as if it were any other day.

But Libertyville police hedge a little bit. They say there were four red-light violations during the blizzard, but they won't say whether four tickets will be issued.
The Daily Herald reports many other suburbs are giving drivers a break on red light tickets, on the grounds that drivers couldn't see clearly, or that red light cameras couldn't take clear pictures because of all the snow.
The City of Chicago also suspended enforcement of red light cameras for the blizzard.
Chicago Department of Revenue Director Bea Reyna-Hickey, in a statement earlier this week, said that because of the "unusual and difficult conditions" caused by the storm, the city will not issue tickets to anyone caught on camera between 6:30 p.m. Feb. 1 and 3 p.m. Feb. 2.
