2 Shot Outside Illegal Party On West Side
CHICAGO (STMW) - Two men were shot outside an illegal party early Friday at a West Side building, police said.
The shooting happened about 1 a.m. outside a building at 4701 W. Washington Blvd., which used a to be a church, according to police.
The victims were at a Thanksgiving Day party held by promoter Tony R. Jordan, and they stepped outside to 22 N. Kilpatrick Ave. where they were shot and robbed, according to Harrison District police Lt. John Andrews.
"The offender came up, displayed a revolver and demanded the guy's Pelle coat,'' Andrews said.
After the man wearing the coat took it off and gave it to him, the suspect, described as a male between the ages of 16 and 20, fired a few shots and hit him in the finger and both legs, Andrews said.
The man's companion suffered a graze wound to the leg. Both were both taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in unidentified conditions, according to police.
Police said the suspect fled and was not in custody as of 6:30 a.m.
Multiple fliers were found lying on the ground advertising the party with a $5 cover charge. Police shut down the party and arrested Jordan, who gave his address as 4701 W. Washington Blvd.
"He has a history of conducting illegal parties,'' Andrews said.
Jordan was cited with having no license for a public place of amusement, no retail food license and reckless conduct, and will appear in court later Friday.
Jordan made news in October when he was locked up two nights in a row for a similar illegal parties, which included a DJ and strippers, at the same location.
On Oct. 23, police responded to a call of a fight on the street at the Washington address and when they broke it up and used pepper spray or a Taser to control some the suspects, the officers realized the group had "poured out" of an illegal party at a closed-down church, according to a Harrison District lieutenant.
Officers found the party's host, Jordan, didn't have the proper licenses to have entertainment such as a DJ and strippers and there was a cover charge to get in, so he was arrested, according to the lieutenant.
Jordan, who was 41 in October and who told police then that he resided on Drake Avenue in southwest suburban Bolingbrook, was cited with having no liquor license, no business license, and no public place of amusement license, all of which are municipal code violations, the lieutenant said.
On Oct. 24, Jordan was arrested again after having a similar party, except without strippers. He was charged with having no business license and no public place of amusement license, according to the lieutenant.
