UPDATED 03/08/12 1:06 p.m.
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two Chicago Police officers were injured in a wreck Wednesday night in the Bridgeport neighborhood.
The crash happened around 10:35 p.m. in the 2900 block of South Halsted Street, just a couple of blocks south of the Stevenson Expressway.
Two officers were in a squad car responding to an emergency call when their vehicle collided with a Chrysler 300, said police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.
The driver of the Chrysler did not yield to the police car at the intersection, and slammed into the squad car in the rear. The Chrysler then crashed into a parked vehicle, police said.
Both officers were injured and taken in unknown condition to Stroger Hospital of Cook County, although it did not appear their injuries were life-threatening, police. No other injuries were reported.
The offending driver, Toby Cooper, 43, of Sauk Village, was ticketed for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle. He refused medical attention, police said.
