CHICAGO (CBS) - Three people – including two Chicago Police officers – were injured and hospitalized overnight, after an accident involving an unmarked squad car in the South Side's Roseland neighborhood.
As CBS 2's Susanna Song reports, the two officers and a civilian were all taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition.
A fire chief said the two officers were released from the hospital around 3:30 a.m. Their condition was improving all night, and before they were released, they were alert and talking, officials said.
The third victim remained hospitalized as of 6 a.m. An updated condition for that victim was not immediately available.
Tactical officers in a unmarked Chicago Police car with its lights and sirens activated were responding to a call at 9:32 p.m. when it crashed into a non-police vehicle in the 11100 block of South Champlain Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.
The police Major Accident Investigation Unit is investigating.
