$2 Million Bond For Woman Accused Of Stabbing Infant
HARVARD, Ill. (STMW) - A far northwest suburban woman is being held on $2 million bond for allegedly stabbing a 9-month-old boy in the head Friday night in Harvard.
Emergency personnel responded at 9:59 p.m. Friday to a residence in the 500 block of West McKinley Street in Harvard and found a 9-month-old boy stabbed in the head, according to a Harvard police release.
Paramedics initially took the infant to Mercy Harvard Hospital and was later airlifted to Rockford Memorial Hospital, police said.
Claudia Mejia, 36, of the 500 block of West McKinley St., was charged with aggravated battery of a child and attempted murder, both Class X felonies, the release said.
The relationship between Mejia and the infant was not immediately known.
Mejia was transported to McHenry County Jail, and was ordered held on $2 million bond Saturday.
