Police were questioning one man Friday morning in connection the brutal double homicide in South Deering, reports CBS 2's Susanna Song.

The man was running away from the scene after the shooting. It is unclear if he is even a suspect.

Police say around 11:17 p.m. Thursday, two men in their 20s were shot inside a red car at the National Pride Car Wash, on the 10000 block of South Torrence Avenue.

Officers heard gunshots, rushed to the scene, and found the two men shot multiples times – including once each in the head.

Immediately, police set up a perimeter to prevent anyone from leaving the area. That is when they saw a man running away.

The man did not have a weapon on him, according to police.

The scene of the shooting is about a mile away from another shooting this past Monday night, which also left two people dead. Alixi Johnson, 17, was pronounced dead shortly after the shooting at Merrill Park, in the 2100 block of East 96th Street, while Janeen Hancock, 34, was pronounced dead the following night. Two others were injured in the shooting.

Community activist Andrew Holmes says the violence in the area is getting out of control.

"People walk around the city with AK's," Holmes said. "You know, they have no respect for life anymore, and until we take a stand, and stand up, and start turning some of these individuals in, and the State's Attorney steps up and starts giving them some stiff penalties, you know, there's going to be an increase in this violence out here.

Earlier around 4 p.m. Thursday, a man was shot and killed in the Park Manor neighborhood.

Dominique Ollie, 25, was shot in the 7100 block of South Rhodes Avenue. He was pronounced dead at 5:09 p.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, authorities said.

An hour later around 5 p.m. Thursday, Michael Haynes, 22, was trying to break up a fight over a stolen necklace near his home when he was shot at 116th Street and Vincennes Avenue in the West Pullman neighborhood around 5:10 p.m. Thursday, the Sun-Times Media Wire reported.

Haynes was shot in the wrist, chest and lower back, and was pronounced dead at MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island at 6:25 p.m. after acquaintances dropped him off there, the wire reported.

Haynes had recently committed to Iona College in New York, where he was going to play Division 1 basketball, the wire reported.

As a freshman at Corliss High School, he averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore year, he teamed with Deandre Liggins at George Washington High School, and led his team to the city championship game at the United Center, were they lost to Simeon Academy and Derrick Rose, the wire reported.

Haynes later attended Fenger High School, where he wasn't eligible to play, and later landed at Indian Hills Junior College, where he played well enough to get offers from several Division I schools, the wire reported.

No one was in custody in connection with his slaying Friday morning.

The latest fatal shooting happened around 4 a.m. Friday, when Baker Farhat, who was in his 30s, was gunned down during a robbery at a gas station where he worked in the East Garfield Park neighborhood.

Baker Farhat, 35, was working at a Marathon station in at 43 N. Homan Ave., when there was a robbery around 4 a.m.

Co-workers say they were told two suspects came in and shot Farhat in the head, and then shot at a customer.

"He gave them the money, and he just said, 'OK, fine, I gave you the money,'" said co-worker Taser Uddin, "and they still shot him."

Uddin said he typically stayed to help out behind the counter with Farhat, but because of Ramadan, Farhat told him to go home and be with his family. A security guard usually works at the gas station, but he is off on Thursday nights.

No one was in custody in the shooting as of 7 a.m. Friday.

An unofficial tally says in total this year, there have been about 300 murders in Chicago.
