2 Men Charged With Stealing Autographed Cubs Bats From Wrigley Field
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two men have been accused of stealing bats autographed by Alfonso Soriano and Ernie Banks from Wrigley Field during a double-header Tuesday, authorities said.
Johnathan Koziol, 29, and Robert Hack, 28, were each charged with one count of felony retail theft, police said. Hack was also charged with two counts of aggravated battery. Both men are being held on $50,000 bail.
The two men were detained in the park by Cubs security and arrested before they could leave the park, said Cubs spokesman Julian Green.
"We were very happy with the attentiveness of our security personnel and the response by Chicago police officers to quickly resolve the situation which could have resulted in a very violent incident given the type of items which were taken," Green said in a statement.
Koziol and Hack are both scheduled to appear in court next on August 6.
