2 Killed, 7 Wounded In Thursday Shootings
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two men were killed and at least seven others wounded in shootings Thursday on the South and West sides of Chicago.
The latest fatal shooting was a gang-related attack at a Brighton Park neighborhood gas station just before 3 p.m., police said.
A 19-year-old man was in a vehicle at the station in the 4700 block of South Western when someone walked up and fired shots. He was shot repeatedly in the torso and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he later died, police said.
Thursday's other homicide happened about 12 hours earlier in the Princeton Park neighborhood.
A man thought to be in his 20s was found unresponsive about 3:10 a.m. inside a parked car in the 200 block of West 93rd Place. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the face and neck and was dead at the scene, police said.
The Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed the deaths but did not release more details Thursday.
The most recent non-fatal attack happened during a robbery about 11:30 p.m. in the Avalon Park neighborhood.
A 20-year-old man was in the 8200 block of South Brandon when another man walked up, announced a robbery, took his cash and then shot him in the leg, police said. He was taken to Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Center in good condition.
About two hours earlier, a 36-year-old man was shot in West Pullman.
He was standing outside about 9:20 p.m. in the 12000 block of South Michigan when a gunman walked up and shot him in the lower back. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition stabilized, police said.
Thursday afternoon, an 18-year-old man was shot and seriously wounded in East Garfield Park.
He walked into Rush University Medical Center about 12:30 p.m. with gunshot wounds to his neck and side, and told investigators he was shot in the 3400 block of West Flournoy. He is listed in serious condition.
An hour earlier, a 20-year-old man was shot while riding a bicycle in the East Side neighborhood.
He was riding on a sidewalk in the 10900 block of South Ewing at 11:22 a.m. when two people walked up to him. One of them pulled out a hand gun and started shooting, police said. The 20-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the lower left leg and a graze wound to the neck. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in good condition.
Early Thursday, a 27-year-old man was shot in the arm in Gresham. It happened about 3:46 a.m. in the 2300 block of West 79th Street and he took himself to Rush University Medical Center, where he is listed in good condition, police said.
Two men were shot in Thursday's first shooting, a gang-related attack in West Garfield Park.
The men, 19 and 20, were sitting in a parked car about midnight in the 4000 block of West End when a light-colored car pulled up, and someone inside fired shots, police said. The younger man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm and a graze wound to the face, and a relative drove the older man to Loretto Hospital with a wound to the arm, police said. Their conditions stabilized.
