2 Killed, 5 Wounded In Overnight Shootings
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two men were killed and five other people -- including a man in a wheelchair -- were wounded in shootings across the city from Tuesday afternoon to early Wednesday.
Uriel Quinones, 19, was shot to death in the Lower West Side neighborhood about 11:30 p.m., police said.
A blue van pulled up alongside the man as he was walked in the 2200 block of South Oakley and someone inside opened fire, police said.
Quinones, of the 2300 block of West 22nd Street, was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:45 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Less than a half hour earlier, a man was found dead in the West Garfield Park neighborhood with a gunshot wound to the head.
Michael Sullivan, 53, was found on the sidewalk in the 4200 block of West Lake Street, according to the medical examiner's office. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:26 p.m.
The most recent non-fatal shooting occurred about 1 a.m. Wednesday in the 5800 block of West Altgeld Street in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood on the Northwest Side, police said.
An 18-year-old man walked into Presence Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center after a bullet grazed his head, only to become "uncooperative" with police and walk back out, police said.
About 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, a 20-year-old man was shot while he was being pushed in his wheelchair by a friend in the 1100 block of West 58th Street. Someone walked past the two and opened fire, hitting the man in the knee, police said.
He was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, where he was listed in "stable" condition, police said. The man pushing the wheelchair was not injured.
The victim knew the shooter, police said.
Just before 6 p.m., a man was shot several times in the South Shore neighborhood.
The 32-year-old was outside in the 6800 block of South East End Avenue when two suspects walked up behind him and opened fire. He was shot in both arms and one leg, police said. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in "stable" condition.
Tuesday's first shooting occurred in the East Garfield Park neighborhood, police said.
Two men were on the sidewalk in the 3400 block of West Flournoy Street at 2:44 p.m. when an unknown person approached and fired multiple shots, police said.
A 27-year-old man was shot in the back, and a 19-year-old man was shot in the buttocks, police said. Both were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in "stable" condition.
No one is in custody for any of the shootings.
