Child, Adult Injured In South Shore Fire

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A child and adult were injured, and 13 people were left homeless, in a fire early Tuesday in the South Shore neighborhood.
Police believe the fire might have been set after a domestic dispute.
The blaze began about 3:45 a.m. at 7450 S. Luella Ave., according to Fire Media Affairs Chief Joe Roccasalva. It was extinguished by 4:45 a.m.
Police are investigating the possibility the fire may have stemmed from a domestic dispute, according to police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli, citing preliminary information.
The dispute was between a woman in her 20s and her boyfriend, Mirabelli said. The woman left the building during the argument and noticed smoke coming from her apartment.
No one was in custody in connection with the fire Tuesday morning, Mirabelli said.
One adult and one child were taken in good condition to Jackson Park Hospital, Roccasalva said. Eleven people refused medical treatment.
An EMS Plan 1 -- which sends five ambulances to the scene -- was called for the fire, Roccasalva said.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation as of later Tuesday morning.
