2 High Schools In Will County Locked Down After Threat
JOLIET, Ill. (CBS) -- Two high schools in Will County were placed on lockdown Tuesday, after a man told emergency dispatchers he was armed and planned to shoot up the Lincoln-Way Central High School campus.
Will County Sheriff's spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer said 911 received a blocked call around 11:15 a.m. from a man claiming to be on his way to the Lincoln-Way Central campus at Schoolhouse Road and U.S. 30.
"He said he had weapons and was planning to shoot up the school," Hoffmeyer said.
New Lenox Mayor Tim Baldermann said both the Lincoln-Way Central and the Lincoln-Way West campuses had been placed on lockdown as a precaution.
Police secured both the exterior and interior of the schools, and forbade people from entering or leaving the building. There were no reports of any encounters with suspects, Hoffmeyer told the Joliet Herald-News.
