2 Dead Monkeys Found In Shipment To Whiting, Ind., BP Refinery
WHITING, Ind. (CBS) -- Workers at the BP refinery in Whiting, Ind., were shocked to find two dead monkeys in a shipping crate Wednesday.
As WBBM Newsradio's Mike Krauser reports, the Northwest Indiana Times says the monkeys were found inside equipment in the crate that was intended for an ongoing modernization project at the refinery. Both monkeys were said to be under two feet tall.
The origin of the dead monkeys is not being disclosed at this point.
There was concern about possible health risks, and workers were evacuated, the Northwest Indiana Times reported.
The newspaper said the shipping crate apparently had been stored for some time in a warehouse before arriving in Whiting.
A worker told the Northwest Indiana Times the crate had arrived from overseas, and should have been subjected to a more rigorous inspection.
