2 Arrested After Shootout With Police
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A shootout in the South Side's Grand Crossing neighborhood resulted in the arrests of two people early Friday.
Police say around 12:55 a.m., the suspects shot at officers responding to an armed robbery in the 7800 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue.
Officers returned fire but no injuries were reported as of early Friday, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said. Two suspects were taken into custody, and a weapon was recovered at the scene.
Investigators with the Independent Police Review Authority -- which investigates all police-involved shootings -- were notified of the incident and confirmed that shots were fired at and by police, an IPRA spokesman said.
