2-11 Alarm Fire Reported At Senior Apartment Building

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Firefighters were on the scene of a fire at a senior citizen apartment complex on the West Side on Wednesday morning that left five people injured.
Smoke was seen coming out of several windows on the ninth floor.
A 2-11 alarm was called for 1633 W. Madison, just east of the United Center.
The address is listed as the Patrick Sullivan Senior Apartments. The complex is several stories high.
There were unconfirmed scanner reports of residents requesting assistance on the upper floors.
The fire was struck shortly before 10 a.m.
Five people have been taken to hospitals. Two of them, one in good condition, one in serious to critical condition, were taken to the University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago, according to Fire Media Affairs.
Three others, in fair to serious condition, were also taken to hospitals, according to Fire Media.
Firefighters were in the process of conducting a secondary search of the floors.
